On Friday, December 31st, 2010 and Saturday, January 1st, 2011, Mariucci Arena will host the Mariucci Arena Classic. The four teams involved are Minnesota, Union, Ferris State, and Bemidji State. The Minnesota Gophers will play Union on Friday and Ferris State on Saturday. The Mariucci Arena Classic is a great holiday tournament to kick off the New Year! Hockey Season Started, Have you Been to Mariucci Yet?

The Minnesota Gophers have kicked off their 2010-2011 season campaign. They started out the season with 6 home games and have compiled a 2-2 record thus far. They swept the University of Massachusetts and then were subsequently swept by Nebraska-Omaha. Next up is the St. Cloud State Huskies who will play at Mariucci on Friday, October 22 and Sunday, October 24. 2010-2011 Minnesota Gophers Hockey Schedule

The 2010-2011 Minnesota Golden Gophers Men's Hockey Schedule was released earlier this summer. The official schedule is up on Gopher Sports, the official home of Minnesota Gopher sports. The season starts off against Massachusetts at home, followed by Nebraska-Omaha, and St. Cloud State. The first game is on October 8th and concludes on March 5th against Bemidji State (at Bemidji). The Gophers play Wisconsin, Michigan Tech, and Minnesota-Duluth four times each. Check out the schedule and figure out what games you want to make it to! 2011 Hockey Day Minnesota: Minnesota vs. Denver

The lineup for the 5th annual Hockey Day Minnesota was recently announced. The date will take place on February 12th. Starting with high school hockey games in Moorhead, the Minnesota Gophers will take on the Denver Pioneers, followed by the Minnesota Wild vs. the St. Louis Blues. Minnesota will play Denver at Mariucci Arena at 7 PM that day. Hockey Day Minnesota is a day filled with hockey, from high school, to college, finishing with the NHL.

Mariucci Arena Parking

Parking isn't always the most pleasant experience when going to a sporting event. In fact, it can be downright frustrating. Mariucci Arena has several parking options for those Friday and Saturday night games in Dinkytown. In the vacinity of Mariucci includes street parking, ramp parking, and surface lots. The arena is on the west end of the campus off of University Avenue, next to TCF Bank Stadium. When TCF opened, it took some parking away for Mariucci. It didn't take all of it however. The parking lot just a block north of Mariucci is $9 to park in, followed by a ramp two blocks west of the rink. The ramp is $6 to use and is fairly easy to find a spot, it's getting out of the ramp that tends to take a little longer. If you'd prefer to park on the street, Washington and Oak Street provide meters if there are avaliable ones. If those aren't open, the next best bet is to look for a meter on University Avenue headed towards St. Paul. The last resort would be looking for several smaller lots around the arena that can charge anywhere from $8 to $20.

No place like home at Mariucci

When you go to a game at the Mariucci Arena, there is a rare moment of disappointment. The Mariucci Arena is home to one of the strongest hockey programs in the United States and constantly brings in mass of people upwards of 10k per game! Those numbers bring Mariucci to a ranking of top 5 for college hockey. NCAA hockey is best watched at a venue like this, especially when paired with the best fans around - Golden Gopher fans. The Mariucci Arena is currently ranked No. 8 in the top 10 college sports venues by Sports Illustrated. Very cool. Go GOPHERS!

Mariucci Arena Schedule is pretty quiet for a while

The Mariucci Arena Schedule looks pretty quiet now that the Minnesota Golden Gophers Hockey Season is over. Mariucci Arena will be a ghost town for the most part until the Gophers Hockey pre-season practices start again mid-summer. Until then, the Mariucci Arena Schedule may have some open skate ice time, but for the most part will be total empty. Check back for updates as the Gopher Hockey 2010-2011 season approaches!
